The Campus at A Kid's Place of Tampa Bay foster home.

Our Campus

Founded by Dottie Berger MacKinnon and a community of caring leaders and philanthropists, A Kidís Place was established with childrenís best interest in mind. Our mission is to protect and care for abused, neglected and abandoned children who have been removed from their homes.  A Kidís Place provides comfort and safety in a stable and nurturing environment at a critical time.

Children at A Kidís Place reside in a home-like setting with live-in house parents.  Brothers and sisters can safely live together in one of the five (5) homes located on the spacious five acre campus set in a neighborhood setting. The children benefit from a family "house-parent" model and often times this is the first positive family setting they have been exposed to in their young lives. Keeping siblings connected is paramount to the children and their development; providing a safe, stable and loving environment in an otherwise traumatic period in the childrenís lives.

Our children, not only have life enriching activities, they also have access to onsite education, wellness exams, behavioral, dental, educational, and speech development services.  The ultimate goal is to provide these quality services to our children as well as enable the foster care system adequate time to place these children together as a group, keeping that family united. Since opening just six (6) years ago, more than 1,100 foster children and more than 479 families have been served by this important community initiative.

Honorary Mayor

When local builder Jack Bartlett decided to run for Honorary Mayor of Brandon in 2013, he chose A Kid's Place as his charity.  "I chose to run for Honorary Mayor of Brandon to support A Kid's Place because of how strongly my wife, Wendy, and I feel about children.  This charity truly makes a difference in the life of a child."
