Education Initiative

A Kid's Place of Tampa Bay strives to improve educational outcomes for foster children. We achieve this by working in collaboration with child welfare agencies and community partners to ensure at-risk underserved children in foster care have the tools and resources they need to achieve academic success.

Currently there are more than 5,000 foster children throughout Tampa Bay and approximately 70% of our children are Pre-K through 18 years of age. Since school supplies are not part of funding allocated for foster children, we host an annual School Supply Drive to ensure essential supplies such as notebooks, backpacks, pens, calculators, paper, pencils will be available for our community's most vulnerable children. Last year we provided more than 2000 new backpacks filled with school supplies to underserved foster children throughout Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties.
