House Parents

A wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children. House Parents live in the residence with the children and provide them with a strong parental role model. House Parents are responsible for implementing a professional family-style program that emphasizes skill acquisition and personal development and a safe, secure and nurturing environment in which to grow and learn. House Parents are involved in teaching social skills, self-help skills, academic skills, and independent living skills. House Parents administers the day-to-day operations of a family residence including documentation, domestic responsibilities, and other assigned duties. The House Parents serve as important members of the Services Team which regularly reviews each child's case to determine appropriateness of services being provided. Please note: Due to the limited space in the living quarters available to our House Parents while they are working on-site, we are unable to accommodate children of House Parents on our premises, nor are we able to house dogs or cats weighing over 15 pounds. A monthly housing allowance is provided to individuals to help with their living expenses while living off site on their days off.

The following are requirements in order to be considered for the House Parent position:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • One+ year of direct experience providing services to children
  • Previous experience as a House Parent strongly preferred
  • Ability to pass a federal, state, and county criminal background check, and a drug screen

Full Time House Parents: 6 Days On / 3 Days Off

These positions will be a vital part of the team that ensures that the children that enter our doors are given the best care possible in a warm and loving environment.

Youth Counselors – Full and Part Time

Children at A Kid's Place have been through a great deal by the time they come here. We seek nurturing, loving, patient, and kind Youth Counselors who can provide consistency, structure, and a positive role model to our children.

There are three main components of the Youth Counselor position:

  1. Caretaker: Youth Counselors take an active part in the caretaking of the children here at A Kid's Place. This includes organizing activities, playing and interacting with the kids, helping them with homework, getting them ready for bed or school, etc.
  2. Documentation: Because we are a state licensed facility, Youth Counselors are expected to maintain careful and complete documentation on the children they are responsible for, so that there is a thorough and accurate record.
  3. Domestic/Housecleaning: Our facility consists of 5 homes with up to 12 children residing in each home. Youth Counselors are expected to maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the house that they are assigned to, including cleaning up dishes, putting away toys, vacuuming, laundry, and generally keeping the house in a livable condition.

The following are requirements in order to be considered for the Youth Counselor position:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and at least 18 years of age
  • One+ year of direct experience providing services to children
  • Ability to pass a federal, state, and county criminal background check, and a drug screen.
